Hiep Thoai Hotel Phu Quoc

The bathroom layout gives you limited privacy, a small drawback. Still, I had a great stay at this beautiful, well-kept resort. The grounds are spacious and peaceful, with green lawns, tidy bungalows, a large clean pool, and a beachfront area with sunbeds and umbrellas. Staff were friendly, polite, professional, and handled things calmly. Breakfast had plenty of fresh, tasty local and international choices. The hotel reasonably limits use of its facilities and beachfront services to its guests for comfort and safety. Vietnam's beaches are public by law, but resorts can manage access to those services. Some recent negative reviews seem to be from people who weren't guests and were upset about not being allowed to use the facilities, which says nothing about the hotel's actual service or quality. It's a lovely place with great service and a calm atmosphere. It deserves to be judged by real guest stays rather than misleading or retaliatory reviews. I'd happily return and recommend it.

The resort looks beautiful, with lovely scenery and the beach directly behind it. Day-to-day service fell short, though. Room cleaning wasn't done properly, they mostly just folded the sheets, and staff weren't very helpful. They also refused to provide bottled water. The beds weren't comfortable either. Finding the rooms was confusing: reception is far away, there are no signs, and the bungalow layout is easy to get lost in, especially at night. They offer free airport shuttles but don't explain the process clearly beforehand, so guests have to look for the shuttle themselves. It's an okay hotel.

L'azure worked well if you want to stay around the resort and not explore the nearby area. The grounds are beautiful and maintained, the staff were gracious and very kind, and the breakfast buffet had enjoyable eastern and western choices. They also provided shuttle service on arrival and departure. The location was the drawback for me. It's about a 15-20 minute walk to the city center, and the heat and humidity make that walk really uncomfortable. Grabs aren't always available, so the distance can be inconvenient.

The hardest part was having to leave. The sea and beach were gorgeous, crystal clear and so relaxing, and the setting was peaceful while still close to everything. Rooms were roomy, beautifully designed, and top-notch. The staff went above and beyond, and breakfast was like having the best lunch at a five-star hotel. A real little paradise.
