Le Forest Resort

The pool was a real highlight, and the nature around it gave the place a great vibe. We were a family of five staying for a week and a half, and had an amazing time. Staff were especially good, with polite service and fantastic hospitality. The room was serviced daily, and breakfast was freshly made to order. We had dinner there a couple of times too, and the kids really enjoyed it. Five out of five, highly recommended. We’d stay again on our next visit to Phu Quoc.

That ten-minute walk each way is a major hassle if you want to come and go easily. The resort is about half a mile from the main road, and car services refuse to drive to its entrance, leaving you to walk in the dark past wild dogs, rats, chickens, and graveyards. There are no phones in the rooms, so room service isn’t available, and the front desk is often unattended if you need help. Don’t stay here if you want to have a good time. Consider yourself warned.

The host and service were good overall, but the rooms could be better. There are no telephones, so for anything you need, you have to go to reception. I’m not sure if this is a problem across Vietnam’s hotels, but the restroom or washroom here had no door or lock, which can create privacy issues.

The location was awful: about 700 m from the main road along an unlit, narrow, eight-foot-wide lane. You can’t really go outside without a vehicle, and there’s no restaurant at the resort. At breakfast, you have to take whatever is on the counter, and they wouldn’t make an omelet or fried egg to order. The food selection was poor. My room was only 12 x 12, though they called it a Standard bungalow, and there was no hot water. The safe didn’t work, and staff had no solution. You have to ring the bell and wait because nobody is available at reception. One woman was polite, but the other staff were very rude. This was the worst experience I’ve had on all my international trips. Please don’t go to Lee forest Resort.
