Oscar Hotel

Everything is about a minute away, and the rooms are roomy with a really comfortable bed. The staff are lovely and helped me with whatever I needed, even though their English isn't very good. I also got my laundry done there for very cheap. I'll be back soon!

The room felt very dated, and the water in it was practically covered in moss. A power outage made the heat unbearable, and there was no generator. At checkout I had to take my suitcase down from the fifth floor.

I checked Booking.com and was told rooms were available when I arrived. But after I quoted a lower price, they told me there were no rooms left. Poor experience.

I came looking for the real Vietnam, so staying in a district with only Vietnamese residents suited me well. If you don't mind being away from a resort full of tourists, this place may suit you too. The hotel was nice, and after bargaining I paid 300k a night for a room with air conditioning and a private bathroom. The people running it, or maybe the owners, all seemed to live there. They were very accommodating, gave me advice, helped with everything I needed, and arranged what I asked for. They also organized transport to the pearl farm, with drop-off and a driver waiting the whole time. I felt they really valued their customers, and I'm grateful for all their help. A motorbike was ready to rent within a minute for 150k. For me, it was simply great.
