Osen Hotel - Grand World Phu Quoc

The bathroom sink area and ceiling had black mold, and the floors and surfaces were so dirty that we bought ethanol spray cleaner and spent over an hour cleaning and sanitizing before we felt even remotely okay in the room. The bathroom water smelled like sewage and was unusable even for washing our hands. Showering or drinking it obviously didn't feel safe. Gasoline was leaking from the ceiling of the only elevator. When we tried the hair dryer to check for bed bugs, it started smoking right away. One outlet crackled with electrical arcing when a certain switch was on, and the TV didn't work. The cooking smell was awful, and construction noise kept waking us, from 5 a.m. until after midnight. We wanted a refund and to leave, but didn't trust them not to sabotage our belongings while we looked for somewhere else. The booking said no refunds, so we spent as much time away as we could and slept there only 4-6 hours a night. The conditions were deplorable, and it was clear the staff didn't care. I've stayed in questionable rooms before, but this was the first accommodation anywhere in the world where I truly feared for my safety. The owner and staff should be ashamed to charge money for such appalling accommodation, if it can even be called that. Please don't risk your safety by staying at this hotel from hell.
