Palm Hill Resort Phu Quoc

We didn’t feel safe or comfortable staying here, especially after the staff threatened to throw out our luggage if we didn’t leave. On arrival the room hadn’t been cleaned properly, and the bedsheets were dirty. There were both dead and live lizards in the room, and many mosquitoes in the bathroom. The air conditioning didn’t work despite several conversations with the owner asking for it to be fixed. Basic items were missing, including footwear, and the cups weren’t cleaned or replaced the next day. It was an extremely distressing experience.

The rooms and bathrooms are spacious, which was a plus, and housekeeping is available. But the bathroom door in our room was faulty and shrieked loudly each time we opened or closed it. It may seem minor, but it got annoying. Check-in times are strict with no early check-in, though they can store luggage. Staff speak very little English, so Google Translate is essential even for basic conversations. Service brought the experience down. One staff member was especially rude and unwelcoming, and we genuinely felt there might be some racial bias, as Indian guests didn’t seem to get the same warmth as tourists of other nationalities. That left a bad impression. The pool was average, with no view and very little activity. Hardly anyone used it during our two-day stay, while nearby resorts had a much livelier pool scene. Room facilities were inconsistent: the TV didn’t work, there was no ceiling fan, and the AC was the only fixed option, though it worked fine. They did provide a table fan, which honestly felt necessary at times. Breakfast hours were strictly enforced with no leeway if you were late. Vegetarian options were extremely limited to toast, butter, jam, tea or coffee, one drink, seasonal fruit, and pancakes containing egg. The resort feels isolated, far from both Grand World Phu Quoc and Duong Dong Market. Getting around is inconvenient unless you already have transport. The rooms are decent, but poor service, the location, and the unpleasant staff experience outweigh that. It might work if you can overlook the hospitality issues, but I wouldn’t recommend it, especially for families. There are much better options in Phu Quoc at a similar price.

The setting is especially convenient if you’re new to Phu Quoc or Ong Lang. You can walk to what you need, and the Vinabus stop for the island is about eight minutes away. It’s also a peaceful, comfortable spot for a few nights or longer. The room was bright, neat, and clean, and the grounds and pool were lush and well cared for. I didn’t run into any of the issues people had mentioned. This place deserves more recognition. I’d recommend giving it a try, even with my fairly high standards.

We spent a week here and had a really nice stay. Breakfast was included, and for what we paid, it felt like good value. We’ve visited Ong Lang a few times over the past six years and have seen plenty of changes. It’s still a lovely little village, with what you need within walking distance.
