Regent Phu Quoc

Jack deserves a special mention. He was so friendly and helped us take lots of funny, memorable photos and videos. We also met a sweet, beautiful staff member from the Philippines who showed us to our room and villa and around the resort. Sorry, we’ve forgotten her name, Chanwa or Chandra, my bad. Their positive attitude and personal attention made us feel valued. The resort is gorgeous, with a peaceful setting that made it easy to relax, a beautiful beach, and amazing food. We spent an unforgettable family holiday at Regent Phu Quoc, one of our best resort experiences.

Part of our 38th wedding anniversary was spent at the Regent, and the staff remembered it throughout our stay with small gifts and kind gestures. Bruno and the management team did a great job, and we’d rate the experience five stars. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious, especially the pastries. We were tempted to take the head pastry chef home. The beach and grounds were kept clean, with staff constantly tending the beach, and cold cans of good drinking water seemed to find us wherever we were. Rooms and villas were spacious, quiet, and clean. Staff were respectful, quick to respond, and went to great lengths to fix anything that wasn’t quite right. The resort feels modern, luxurious, spacious, friendly, and relaxing. Dining prices are a little high for Vietnam, as you might expect at a high-end resort, but the food was excellent. The Intercontinental next door is another option. Its main restaurant had a mediocre atmosphere, though the service and local dishes were good and reasonably priced. You can add that bill to your Regent account.

I loved cycling along the beach on one of their rental bikes. It’s one of the longest beaches I’ve seen. The rice market was another favorite, packed with great Vietnamese food. There are free yoga classes every day, and the club lounge has beautiful views and an infinity pool. The food and service were both amazing. Richky and Bang, you were outstanding! For a luxury stay on Phu Quoc island, I highly recommend Regent Resort.

We stayed four nights in mid-May, during a quieter season, so staff had extra time to look after us. When Tika Yuliantika, the director of guest services, learned our flight wasn’t until 11 pm, she offered a checkout as late as 7 pm. That thoughtful gesture made our day much easier. We were upgraded from an ocean-view room to a garden pool villa, though the original room was spacious too, with a huge balcony and lovely views. Don’t overlook the non-pool rooms. At breakfast, the pastries changed daily and were delicious, and the pho was great. We also appreciated the complimentary laundry for three pieces. I had packed a shirt that was too hot to wear, and they even hand-washed one garment and laid it flat to dry. The beach felt very private, and the free kayaks were fun. Sunscreen, insect repellent, and glasses wipes were provided there too.
