Solea Hotel & Apartment Sunset Town Phu Quoc Hotel

This is about the cafe and restaurant on site. We gave it two tries because it was close to our apartment, and both times left disappointed. At dinner, we ordered fried chicken for a child, but it arrived raw. When we raised it with staff, we got an unhappy look and no response. They took away the cut half-leg piece and later brought it back fried to a coal-like state, impossible to eat. We didn't argue further and paid for the dish we'd already told them we couldn't eat. We returned for breakfast. After being seated and placing a simple order of croissants and coffee, we waited an hour while other tables were served twice. We asked three times for an update. On the third attempt, staff told us non-guests of the motel were last priority, with our hungry kids still waiting at the table. Nobody had told us that when seating us and taking the order. They didn't apologise, just said they could charge us for the coffee and we could leave. If you're not staying there, don't waste your time trying to eat there. Nothing about it was pleasant.

We returned at 3pm, an hour after the stated 2pm check-in, only to be told by a different staff member that our room wouldn't be ready until 4. That was hard to understand when checkout is at noon, and staff acted as though this was a normal thing. After we argued, they offered complimentary drinks: first just one, then four drinks from the restaurant for our three rooms, each capped at 65k VND. That didn't make up for it, in my view. We eventually checked in at night, while a friend who arrived later got into their room at 5pm. We'd arrived early and wanted to leave our luggage, but the only receptionist was busy with another group, so check-in took a long time. We were okay with that part. The room cleanliness was so-so. They hadn't changed the sheets or anything, which made the long cleaning delay even more confusing.

That salted cream coffee is out of this world, you have to try it. I ate breakfast here every day while staying at the Hill apartments, and the English breakfast was spot on and very reasonably priced, especially the bacon. The staff are helpful too. You should list the restaurant separately on Google maps. It's worth visiting on its own.

The views are breathtaking and the service felt truly five-star. Hung was especially kind and supportive, and clearly cares about guests. Even when things were busy, he kept smiling and made us feel right at home. We had an incredible time at Solea!
