Thai Tan Tien Hotel

We really enjoyed our week-plus here, and I don’t understand the bad reviews. The staff were helpful and lovely. Breakfast was simple and tasty, 40,000 VND per person, with different omelets, pho, fruit, coffee, tea, and other drinks. The coffee was amazing. We ate lunch at the beach restaurant several times, especially liking the soups, including the special beef noodle soup. Food and drinks there were cheap. The location was just right: shops and restaurants close by, but the area itself was calm. Duong Dong and the night market are walkable, or an inexpensive Grab ride away. The shower had no hot or even warm water during our whole stay, and there were lots of dead bugs in the room, including on the curtains, in cabinets, and on the walls. Cleaning them up would make the room cozier. A nearby hotel played loud music and karaoke in the evenings. There were mosquitoes around then, too, so wear repellent. You may barely notice them at first, but the bites get VERY itchy later. Even with those issues, we had a great stay and would come back. They also mailed our postcards when the post office was closed for the weekend. Thank you so much!! 🩷

I’m trying to give an honest account. I stayed here twice, in December 2024 and December 2025. On the first 10-day trip, the power went out almost every day. I gave the hotel the benefit of the doubt and returned a year later, but the same thing was still happening. These outages were at the hotel only, not in the neighborhood or across the island, and the hotel still hadn’t fixed the electrical problem. The power cut out every afternoon and evening, so the room heated up fast. This time there was also construction on the hotel grounds, with big trucks moving dirt from 7:30 am until 6 pm. It was very noisy, and nobody told us about it in advance. The pool water was always cloudy, and they don’t clean the pool. They never seem to fix the electricity problem. Don’t stay here.

Breakfast was easygoing: just sit down and they bring fresh eggs and bread, with tea or coffee, fruit, or their delicious homemade yogurt. The price is excellent, and the room was clean, with a kettle, fridge, and hairdryer available. They provide beach towels and a large water bottle for each room, and reception keeps plenty of cold drinks, including beer. The location is fabulous, with a great pool and beach access. The grounds could use a little TLC, so they might not suit everyone, but we enjoyed staying here and would return.

The rooms are okay. There’s construction along the beachside front row, though it’s quiet at night. The dogs here are very watchful. Much the same as the latest posts.
