The Up Phu Quoc Hotel

The room was clean and neat, and comfortable enough for a relaxing stay, though it wasn’t luxurious. Staff were friendly and ready to help, and breakfast had a nice selection, including made-to-order pho and omelets. Since The Up Hotel Phu Quoc Island is downtown, restaurants and cafes are easy to reach, and driving to most island attractions was convenient. A comfortable, reasonably priced choice in a handy location.

At check-in on April 20, the hotel couldn’t find my booking in its computer system, even though I showed the Agoda confirmation. Staff initially wouldn’t let me check in, which confused me, especially since I stay in hotels every month and hadn’t run into this before. Fortunately, a senior member of the team came out and offered me one night’s accommodation free while I sorted it out. Once I was settled, he asked me to contact Agoda to verify the booking certificate. After several complications, Agoda issued a special check-in certificate number and the issue was resolved. I’m grateful to The Up Hotel management and staff for helping me through it. Everyone, including the other departments, was polite and helpful. The restaurant service was very good, the room was clean, and the pool was large enough. Breakfast had plenty of choices and tasted good, and there’s also a fitness room where I could exercise each morning after breakfast. I’m very satisfied with the trip and appreciate the whole team’s help.

The staff at UP Hotel Phu Quoc were consistently friendly, attentive, and helpful. That was easily the best part of our stay. The hotel itself, though, didn’t feel worth what we paid, around 1,000 CHF for 4 nights. To me it felt more like a 3-star place than a 4-star one. The advertised gym is just a tiny room with a few basic machines, and I didn’t come across the spa at all during our visit. The rooftop bar had only just opened, so the staff were still learning how to run it. The drinks were good, but the rooftop felt bare and unfinished, with almost no decoration or plants and very little seating, basically just a bar on an empty roof. Getting there was also inconvenient: the hotel is on a narrow side street that’s nearly always congested, which made arrivals, departures, and taxi rides take longer than needed. I wouldn’t book it again.

We ate at the hotel restaurant and really enjoyed the food. The hotel was new and clean, and the staff were wonderful. Our room was on the small side, but it was tidy and had a comfortable bed. Tri and the restaurant supervisor deserve a special mention for always greeting us with smiles and great energy. Our stay was perfect.
