Thien Thanh Resort Phu Quoc

My mother had a wonderful birthday, and our family is so grateful to Khoa and the Reception Team for making it special. I contacted them about a birthday surprise for my parents' stay, and Khoa kindly took the initiative and paid attention to the details. He arranged flower delivery and had a birthday cake placed in the room. The birthday card and thoughtful suggestions were lovely touches too. Even with the language limitations, he found ways to make the occasion memorable. I really appreciate the care and dedication. I highly recommend the hotel, and especially want to recognize Khoa for going above and beyond.

The location is superb, and we'd thoroughly recommend Thien Than. We found this gem by chance after deciding to leave another hotel. The decor is pretty garish, think Tr*mp, but it's quite a spectacle. The rooms are lovely, the service is second to none, the gym is top drawer, and the pool and beach areas are spacious and beautiful.

Our second night was great because there was no one next door. The first was disrupted when the neighbors checked out in the wee hours, and we could hear their doors slamming through the poor soundproofing. We stayed in a garden unit on the second floor, which gave us a nature feel. The room was big and comfortable, with a bathtub, and cleanliness was great, no cockroaches or stains on the bed or towels. The hotel's design is excellent, and the staff are polite and helpful. Hung at reception was great at check-in and check-out. The location is central in Phu Quoc and within easy walking distance of nearby places to eat. There was renovation or maintenance work going on, which might make mornings a bit noisy since they start early, but I think that will pass soon. The value is not bad, and otherwise it's a great hotel to stay in Phu Quoc.

I deeply regret choosing this place. I usually stay at chain hotels, but came here to visit the central region since there were no Marriott or Hilton hotels here. Apart from the exterior, room size, and price, I can't see anything worthy of a five-star hotel. I don't understand its 4.7 Google Maps rating or 9.2 on Agoda. I arrived after 10 PM after watching a show in Sunset Town. There was just one receptionist, apparently helping the previous group with their luggage, so I waited 10 minutes to check in. After asking my name, she accused me of making staff wait for a 2 PM airport pickup and then not showing up. She showed me flight information from Singapore. I was baffled and explained I had flown from Bangkok the day before, so I'm sure I hadn't booked a pickup and forgotten it. I assumed it was a mistake, but the room was worse. The so-called balcony was just part of the decorative exterior facade, with only a thin glass partition between it and the next room. The clothes hanging next door were different that night and the next morning. There was no privacy, and I started questioning the security too. The room was old and had poor soundproofing. The bathroom towels and toiletries were no better than motel ones. Breakfast looked plentiful the next day, but none of it tasted appetizing. There were also frequent power outages, about three in the same hour before I checked out. Before leaving, I went to the entrance to check, and saw it was certified as a five-star hotel by the National Tourism Administration. Unbelievable!
