Villa Caribe Phu Quoc

This was the worst hotel experience of my life. I wouldn’t recommend it even for free. Only an hour after booking, I asked to cancel because another guest’s review warned about construction noise. The hotel didn’t reply to me or Booking. Since I had no response and didn’t want to lose my money, I went anyway. On arrival they said there were no standard rooms left and moved me to a family room. I accepted that. But construction noise began that afternoon and continued from early morning until late afternoon or evening, so resting was impossible. There are also medium-sized dogs on the street that bark constantly when you pass. That can feel intimidating, especially with children. At 9:30 the next morning I went for breakfast and was told it had ended and my booking didn’t include it. That wasn’t true, my Booking reservation clearly said “breakfast included.” When I showed the receptionist, she said it wasn’t her problem and I should contact Booking. I contacted them not because I cared about missing breakfast, but because I thought it was absurd to pay for an included service and then be told it wasn’t. I only wanted a coffee. When I left in the morning and came back in the afternoon, I found that all my things had been moved to another room without anyone telling me, calling me, or asking permission. They handled all my belongings, including intimate clothing. They moved me simply because I had complained to Booking. Later, I realized three people were staying in the family room I had been assigned, so I assume they needed it for other guests. I felt completely invaded and violated. The man who spoke to me later was extremely rude and disrespectful. He aggressively said they moved me because I complained, insisted breakfast wasn’t included, and even claimed it cost almost as much as my stay, although I paid €60 for two nights. Before checkout this morning, I got an email from Booking saying Villa Caribe had reported me as a “no-show” and Booking would charge my card again because the reservation had no free cancellation. That’s extremely serious. Luckily, I was still at the hotel and had photos of both rooms, so I can prove I was staying there. This attempt to falsely report me as a no-show is unacceptable. There was no hot water. The towels were dirty, whether they were poorly washed or not washed at all, I don’t know. One had mascara on it, and it was so disgusting I had to dry myself with a T-shirt. The pool was extremely dirty, too. There was constant construction noise, aggressive and disrespectful service, no respect for guests’ privacy, and an attempted improper charge. It’s a real shame, because the villa is beautiful and has a lot of potential. With this management and treatment of guests, though, it loses all its charm. These people showed no basic courtesy, treated guests very badly, and made the stay stressful and deeply unpleasant. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel under any circumstances. I noticed the few positive reviews were from several years ago. I don’t know if the management has changed, but the recent reviews are terrible, and now I understand why.
