Freesia Hotel

We had full board, and the food was really good. The location is great, right in the center of Sa Pa, on a small hill. You can see the hotel from most parts of town, and the town from the hotel. The odd part was how freezing cold the shared areas, like the lobby and restaurant, always were. We started calling it “Freeze ya”. Otherwise, it was pretty okay, though kind of weird even for Vietnam.

The staff were friendly and quick to help whenever we needed something. The room and bathroom were just average, and the windows had been left open when we checked in. The chairs and bedside table were placed awkwardly and weren’t convenient. Breakfast was average too, with some cold dishes and others that were too salty. The hotel and rooms could use renovation to make the stay more comfortable.

I don’t understand how this is rated a four-star hotel. The toilet bowl was stuck and wouldn’t flush, and there was no instruction on what number to dial for reception from the room phone. Dinner wasn’t nice either. The shower gel and shampoo hadn’t been replaced with fresh sets, and the amounts left in them were different. After the room was serviced following our first night, someone had slammed the lamp into a very awkward position and left it that way. I asked them to fix it while I went out for dinner. They did, but they’d thrown my charging cable on the floor even though it had been on the bed.

The staff were really good, and the location near the market is convenient. Still, I’d keep this hotel as a last option because it’s very poorly maintained. The bathroom had drainage problems, cleaning wasn’t done properly, and the washrooms overall were not kept up. Vegetarian breakfast wasn’t great, with fruit as the only option.
