Breakfast was a real highlight, especially the omelet. We liked it so much we tried making it at home. The staff were lovely, friendly, and accommodating, and our room was spacious. The location was also handy, near the Sun World Center, with a nice view of the monorail from our mountain-view room. There were some problems, especially if you work remotely. We started in Building C, where the WiFi didn’t reach our room at all. The outlets were unusual too, and we needed staff help to plug things in, so we ended up using a power strip to charge our devices. We asked to move because of the WiFi and spent our second night in Building A, nearer the street. That room was smaller, which was fine, and the WiFi worked much better. But the walls seemed thin, since we could hear people walking in the hallway. My partner developed allergic rhinitis, and later we spotted mold on the ceiling that may have caused it. Luckily, we’d brought his medication. We enjoyed staying at Joville Sapa Hotel for its location and views, and the staff were great, but the comfort and maintenance issues are worth considering. If we return to Sapa, we might try another hotel.

I picked this accommodation because having a mountain view was the most important part of my Sapa trip. The room assigned at check-in didn’t have the kind of view most travelers would call a proper mountain view. In Sapa, I’d expect to see the mountain clearly from the room or a balcony facing it. Here, I could only see part of it after stepping onto the balcony and turning my head, and even then buildings on the property blocked the view. I don’t think that should be described as a full mountain view. It should have been labeled “Partially Mountain View.” I raised this with the owner, but she insisted it was a mountain-view room. After we discussed it, they changed only one of the two rooms I’d booked, and the view was basically the same. The owner said it was a one-level upgrade, but we got that room for only 2 of our 3 nights and had to move again on the last day. What upset me most was her response to the concern. I felt treated as if I were making a fuss about something trivial, even though I thought it was a reasonable issue. Her tone and facial expressions seemed dismissive and short on basic courtesy. Another major problem was the lack of night-time management. On two nights in a row, after 11:00 PM, a large group of guests drank and shouted in the shared hallway. The noise carried across the floor and disturbed people in several rooms. The property didn’t step in at all, so I had to go out and ask them to quiet down myself. It was shocking to have guests drinking and yelling in a shared space that late, and even more concerning that the hotel made no attempt to manage it. To me, this was a failure of the property’s management, not a conflict between guests. The room was very cold in winter, and the Wi-Fi was slow. The rooms are somewhat aged, though that’s understandable for the price. There were some good points: the staff were kind and genuinely tried to help resolve problems, even though many didn’t speak fluent English. The water pressure and hot water were very good, the location was convenient, and the price relatively cheap. For a budget traveler who doesn’t care much about mountain views or noise, it may be acceptable. Still, unless the room-view descriptions become clearer, the owner handles customer concerns better, and night-time noise in shared areas is controlled, I wouldn’t recommend this property to travelers who value quiet rest and decent accommodation management.

Breakfast was a lovely place to take in the mountain view, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The location is central, too. But the rooms and building feel old: the paint was damaged, there were signs of mold on the ceiling and walls, and the floor was dusty. For what we paid through Airbnb, it was much more expensive than nearby places while offering less value. It’s not somewhere I’d say to avoid, but I wouldn’t call it good value, and it doesn’t feel like the three-star hotel listed on Google Maps.

We spent five days at Joville Sapa with our family and were impressed by the staff and the service. Ms.Elvy helped us from before we arrived right through our last day, and kept checking whether we needed anything. When a mix-up with the bus operator complicated our trip from Hanoi to Sapa, she stayed with us until we got onto the big bus. She also offered a tour with no hidden charge, which worked well for us traveling with seniors. The room was cleaned regularly, towels replaced, amenities replenished and bottled water refilled. We found the food and facilities comfortable, and the view of the funicular was great. Sapa station is less than a five-minute walk away. They even prepared and sang Happy Birthday for my son and brother during our stay. Everyone was so helpful and hospitable. I’m very happy with the experience and would highly recommend Joville Sapa Hotel.

The breakfast buffet was very good, and the rates felt affordable for a hotel in the same area as the famous places with views of the monorail train. We were six people and were really pleased with the facilities and service, especially how warm, accommodating, and helpful the staff were. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! We hope to come back for a longer stay.
