Sapa Honey Moon Hotel

We only stayed one night. The owners' children accidentally opened our room door while playing in the hallway, and we weren't comfortable with that since we wanted some peace and relaxation. We moved to a nicer, cheaper, quieter hotel. The room itself was comfortable, breakfast was included, and the wifi was good. Like beds in much of Vietnam, though, this one was hard as a wooden board. We came to the hotel after being dropped at the market, where the woman who runs it approached us. I first declined, but she kept at it, and after seeing the room she offered for $10usd/night, we agreed to stay.

The rooms were okay, but cold without AC or a heater, and they weren't made up during the day. The receptionist wasn't friendly at all. Breakfast took ages, and we had to ask three times. They also tried to charge extra for a checkout that was 30min late.

After she overheard us talking about a trip to Halong Bay, she offered to sell us bus tickets to Ha Long Bay. She said we'd arrive at 5 am, but the bus dropped us off at 2 am, leaving us with nowhere to sleep. The drivers let us out at a station where taxi drivers were waiting to quote prices without using the meter and scam us. It seemed clear they had an arrangement with the drivers. I feel badly let down. I didn't expect her to leave us in the hands of people like that. I texted her three times to say how unhappy I was, and she never responded or apologized. She only cares about your money. There was no hospitality in the service. The bus was 30 years old and NOT well-maintained. You'd be much better off booking online through 12go.asia.

They weren't very friendly, just putting on fake faces, and the place wasn't very clean either. Hot water for showers was only turned on from 6-9am and 6-9pm, so you couldn't shower whenever you wanted unless you went downstairs and told them you needed it. There are lots of hotels in sapa.
