Tavan Dragon House - Hostel

Dinhs Homestay was full when we first tried to book, but they pointed us here, which turned out to be lucky. My friend and I arrived without particular expectations and were struck by how warmly the family welcomed us. They gave us useful advice for exploring nearby, then held a private cooking class just for the two of us with the family. Such a memorable stay.

The rooms have lovely views, and three of them come with private balconies and seating areas. Upstairs there are, I think, four rooms and two very nice bathrooms. Our bed was big and comfortable, and everything felt clean. They provide slippers to wear around the house and towels too. Breakfast was 30K per person, with pancakes, honey and bananas one day, then toast, eggs and apples the next. We also joined the family for dinner once, a proper feast for 100K per person. Local women selling their goods may stop by.

I came planning to stay for two nights, but ended up staying a week and bringing friends because I liked it so much. The whole place was spotless, with clean bathrooms and hot water. Beds were really comfortable in both the private rooms and dorms. The food was excellent and very inexpensive, and I was impressed by how kind and well-mannered the children were. I felt at home here and won't forget the stay.

The views are wonderful wherever you look, with the sound of a stream nearby. The house feels new but still authentic, and the bedding was comfortable. We loved the home-cooked dinners, and the family made us feel so welcome and cared for that we were genuinely sad to leave. There are lots of trekking routes around Ta Van, plus restaurants and convenience shops within walking distance.
