Toce House

We left early, even though we’d paid in full, because the room was freezing and getting around was difficult and expensive. The hotel is far from the city, and although it offers scooter rentals, they were all taken. We spent more than 40 minutes trying to find a taxi, then paid around 270,000 VND with Grab. We found hotels in the city center with AC for half the price, plus scooter rentals at 150 000 VND a day instead of 180 000 VND at Toce, and laundry for 30 000 VND rather than 50 000 VND at Toce. The room itself was nice but seemed poorly maintained, with a spill on the walls. There was no soundproofing, so dogs barked through the night and roosters crowed early, and the windows had no proper curtains, making the room bright in the morning. It was also cold in winter with no AC. Breakfast was noodle soup, which tasted okay, but the meat was too tough to eat. Staff were very friendly and helped us change dates with free cancellation on booking after a calendar mistake, which we appreciated.

The receptionist welcomed us with a smile and treated us really well, even though it was difficult to communicate. We had the pleasure of sharing dinner time with her, and she made excellent Vietnamese BBQ. The next day, she prepared a spectacular hotpot. We highly recommend it.

Guests were singing karaoke at 1am and kept the whole village awake. Edit: Your guests don’t “always respect the peaceful surroundings.” This isn’t the first review you’ve had about late karaoke. It also went past the usual acceptable 10pm-11pm cut-off. Their behavior affects your business, as well as the locals and nearby businesses. I heard several Vietnamese people telling the guests to be quiet, in rougher words.

The room had a cozy, vintage feel, and the view looked like something from a movie. Khởi welcomed us warmly and cooked delicious local dishes, including chicken and sturgeon. We stayed for three days and felt right at home. I’d recommend Toce House, especially dinner made by Khởi.
