The owner welcomed me like family and kept checking whether I needed anything. The service was wonderful, and the rooms were lovely. With their old wooden window frames, crisp white linens, and wide views, the rooms made the inn feel like a storybook place with a long history. The tacos grilled right in front of the inn were delicious too. I definitely want to return.

About two weeks before my trip, I booked a room here. When I got in touch to confirm my arrival and check-in time, he said he’d forgotten my booking and they were full. He did offer me use of his kitchen for 70,000 a day, for an extra charge, but I had to find somewhere else to stay. If you book here, double-check that your room is actually reserved so you don’t have to find another place at the last minute like I did.

The café out front has amazing views, and the banh mi burrito, called banh mi taco roll, is a tasty mix of the two foods. It’s not an adventurous combination, just a good one. My only complaint is the huge amount of mayo, so ask for none or less.

I ate at the café and used the laundry service at Viet Duc Guest House while I was in Sapa. Ha and her family were so lovely and kind. The food was delicious every time, and the laundry was fantastic. Highly recommend.

The rooms are clean and nicely furnished, and even have heating blankets. It’s in a good part of town, close to everything but still pretty calm. The hostess, Ha, is what really made the difference. We joked that she was like our mom because she made sure we ate well, helped us get the information we needed for a good visit, and was flexible about our check-in and checkout needs. Vietnam Duc is a lovely homestay for a Sapa stay.
