Chau Long Sapa

We were only here for one night, and Kevin made sure our short stay went smoothly. He even helped us get a sleeper bus ticket to Hanoi for the next morning. The rooms are large for such an affordable place, and the beds were comfortable. The air conditioning also works as a heater, which was useful on cold Sapa nights, and the shower had hot water.

The morning view was especially lovely with the rain and fog, and I really enjoyed it. The hotel was clean throughout, from the room to the bathroom, and the staff were great. Breakfast came included. There wasn’t much variety, but what was served was tasty and good quality. The heating worked well, and the beds were wonderfully soft, making for a very pleasant stay.

It’s quiet here, away from the noise and crowds in the center, and the prices are good. The staff are very welcoming, and there’s also a good laundry service if you need it. My bed was firm, but the linens felt lovely and soft. On a nice day, the path down from Main Street makes for a beautiful 20-minute walk into town. I’d take a Grab back uphill, it’s cheap.

We were already on our way to Sapa when, just two hours before check-in on January 1, we were told the property couldn’t host us because of an internal staff mistake. Our booking had been confirmed well in advance, so being left to sort things out ourselves during a holiday in a mountain destination was incredibly stressful and frustrating. They suggested other places, but those were more expensive and in clearly worse locations. We booked through Booking.com and are now relying on their support to resolve a problem that should never have happened. I strongly caution people against booking Sapa TT Homestay, especially during busy periods.
