Dai Lanh Beach Hotel

It’s a beautiful spot for photos and a nice place to walk around. We stopped for food and drinks, and everything was good. Then, while we were eating, more than 10 flies suddenly hovered around our table, even with the fan on full blast.

A lovely place to unwind by the coast, tucked away from the usual route. The water is crystal clear and the setting is stunning. The food was good, the rooms great, and the staff lovely.

If you can avoid this place, do yourself a favor and stay away. We had limited choices and had to stay, so here’s what happened. The beach and scenery are beautiful, which makes the poor facilities and service especially disappointing. It feels like a waste of national resources and a blow to Vietnam’s tourism potential. Check-in was awful. We arrived around 7pm, after sunset, in a rush to feed the kids. The guy at check-in insisted on seeing every child to determine room charges, without explaining that it was about the breakfast vouchers. It took 30 minutes for something that shouldn’t have been necessary. We ended up paying 150k vnđ for an extra teenager. That sort of nickel-and-diming belongs at a motel or hostel, not a resort. They also charge extra for people and give mediocre breakfast vouchers. The service was just as bad. There was no welcome, no smiles, and no offer to help. The focus seemed to be collecting money for random little things, and the staff didn’t seem to understand hospitality. The rooms are basic and only sort of clean, with a mini fridge. The AC unit was poorly placed, there was no fan, and we had lots of mosquitoes even with a bed net. The hot water was either boiling or cold, and the sheets were rough. Outside, the amenities look like they’re from the 80s. By morning there was litter everywhere, ruining the beautiful beach. I don’t know whether they clean up during the day, but there aren’t enough trash cans. Breakfast was easy to skip: the fried egg was overdone and hard, the coffee tasted burnt, and the noodle was soggy. They charge nonsense fees, the rooms and facilities are old, the cooking is bad, and staff don’t know how to serve tourists. Such a shame.

We paid the off-season rate of 320,000 for one night in a bungalow/shack. It’s set a little way back from the water and behind the bathroom, which was a bit disappointing, though you’re still right on the sand. The showers were just a pipe. Breakfast was included, and there was a nice playground, sculptures, and seating area. It’s a nice beachfront property.
