Dream Box Hostel

The manager was good, and the beds were fine, but the street noise from motorbikes was very loud.

I won't stay here again. The bed was comfortable and the facilities were nice, but sleep was impossible: children were screaming and running around past midnight, then the parents and kids were up before 6 a.m. having loud conversations and making noise again. It happened two days in a row, with no consideration for anyone else.

The owner was so friendly, asking where guests wanted to go and pointing out how to get there. I really liked how she runs the hostel. It’s near Vung Tau city’s front beach and some great food streets, and there are drinks on the ground floor at night. The sleeping box was nice and inexpensive.

The dorm bed shades were a nice touch for anyone wanting privacy, though the person staying in that bed wasn’t using them. The place was very clean, but to me it felt corporate, with open bays that reminded me of prisons. Even from the private rooms, the bathroom was a bit of a hike, and there was no toilet paper there. The rooms had Hello Kitty themes, but there was no courtyard or communal area. I missed the casual hostel touches, like plants in plastic containers, pallet swings, seats made from old tires and string, or guests’ writing on the walls. Maybe we need each other, and the owner doesn’t see that.
