Sammy Hotel Vung Tau

The reception staff were very friendly and helpful, and the kitchen staff made sure I got everything I asked for. There wasn’t a buffet breakfast on Tuesday or Wednesday because the hotel was almost empty. I stayed for two nights, and my room was excellent: a very comfortable bed, a good bathroom, and a TV with BBC/CNN and several movie channels. The hotel also brought me a floor fan when I asked. I’d stay here again.

The discounted midweek price made the stay feel like good value, and breakfast was pleasant with plenty of Vietnamese dishes to try. The lobby entrance was impressive, with a nice atmosphere and friendly staff. My room and its facilities were nice, though the bed was rather hard, and staff kindly brought an extra pillow when I asked. The pool was clean and the pool area was nice. The hotel had a spa, massage, billiards, a bar, and a coffee shop, but all of these were closed. It was very quiet, with lots of open space and little for guests to do. The photos looked appealing, and the discounted rate initially seemed like a great deal.

Room service was excellent and always ready to respond to my needs, which is why I gave the hotel three stars. The pool is great, and breakfast is okay. But the hotel feels quite dated after its ups and downs over the last decade. My room smelled musty, and I killed three cockroaches while sparing several smaller ones. The windows weren’t very clean either. It used to be the best back in the day, but unfortunately it seems to be on its way out.

The staff were enthusiastic. Given how run-down my room was, I think a price of 350-400 VND is still acceptable.
