Angelfish Cove Villas

We stayed five nights with my pregnant wife and our two kids, aged 2 and 4. The children loved playing with local kids and snorkeling. It’s better than basic accommodation, though it isn’t brand new, and there aren’t many places to walk to. The nearby ones are great, though, and Honemoon Beach is about 15 minutes away. The location feels tucked away, so you don’t feel like you’re sharing the place, while still being an easy drive into Vila and the surrounding area. Local buses only come this far occasionally, especially tough early in the morning and on weekends, so having a car is definitely advisable.

The staff were exceptional, and Angel Fish has a great beach with excellent snorkeling. The villas are comfortable, though not luxurious. Self-catering is easy, with a supermarket about 20 minutes away by car or bus. There are a couple of restaurants within walking distance at Coco Beach, though they can be hit and miss, and Paradise Cove is very good but closes each year from 20/01 for the end of the season. It’s a great spot.

We spent eight nights here. The bungalows were spacious, quiet, clean, and well serviced, with a good kitchen and BBQ for cooking your own meals. There’s free Wi-Fi and laundry service, and the views across Mele Bay are lovely. The reef is first class, about 200m straight out from the beach, with interesting coral and lots of colorful fish. The drop-off is very sharp and deep, and snorkeling there is for high tide only. We had hot water trouble for the first few days, but after some tinkering and Island Time it eventually worked. The Pango Point road gets rough with deep potholes once the bitumen ends, and no buses pass Angelfish Cove. It’s 8.5km from central Port Vila, so a 4WD is a good idea if you plan to tour around. Nice place.

The self-contained units are right on the beach, with peace and privacy. Snorkeling on the reef starts right at your doorstep.
