Mangoes Resort Vanuatu

It’s a very quiet, relaxing spot with an amazing lagoon view and a good-sized plunge pool. We stayed for a few days in a lagoon-view room with a pool. It had plenty of space for two, along with a sink and fridge. Port Villa is about a 25-minute walk away, or you can take a bus for 150 VUV. The only drawback was having no food or drinks available by the three main pools, but we used our own pool instead.

The pools were usually quiet, and breakfast was delicious, though you have to pay extra for more than the light options. Barista coffee should also come with the B&B package. Dinner was tasty but pricier than local restaurants; I’d recommend the fish salad (ceviche) and snapper. We found the taxis overpriced and unfriendly, so used local buses and drivers instead. The hotel staff could have been a little friendlier too. Mangoes Resort has a nice small, boutique feel and is adults only, which was a plus. Our room was clean and comfortable with a great lagoon view, although a little dated and ready for renovation. Nice for a short getaway.

Back from Mangoes Resort and I had a great stay. The banana bread at breakfast was next level, and breakfast is included. The room had a fantastic night sky view, and free room service made things easy. Staff were friendly and easy to chat with. It’s close to the main part of Port Vila while still feeling relaxed. I’d book again.

The gardens are beautiful, the resort layout is really nice, and the staff are amazing and friendly. But our room, number 25, felt worn out. The bathroom had a kitchen faucet that sprayed water on you, while the kitchen sink had a bathroom faucet that made filling the kettle awkward. The pool pumps ran at different times, and the main pool outside our room ran around the clock. Dogs fighting and roosters crowing nearby went on at all hours, and the constant smell of burning rubbish didn’t help. The in-house restaurant served stingy portions for the prices, so we ate at local places.
