Tanoa Tusitala Hotel

Tanoa Tusitala is by the old market and makes a great place to stay. The rooms are very comfortable, and the resort restaurant is a good option when you don’t feel like going out into town. There’s no beach access, but they make up for it with beautiful private courtyards and good room prices. The pool was redone in 2018 and is still in great shape.

We had a wonderful stay, with great staff, good prices, and a fantastic location for getting into Apia city. The menu was basic and stayed the same for the five to six days we were there. Luckily, there are plenty of restaurants within a five-minute walk.

The location is right in Apia, close to shops and markets. Breakfast buffet is great and changes a little each day, and the menu food is decent and reasonably priced. The service was good and they really tried to help, but the air conditioning struggled even after we changed rooms. Samoa is so hot and humid, and we couldn’t get any relief. It seems to come down to the owner not investing in adequate AC. I’ll give it another try to see if things improve.

Our family of five went to Tanoa for lunch and ordered salmon, steak, chicken wings, dumplings, and chicken nuggets and chips for the kids. The salmon was like a hard, dry brick, the steak was tough and chewy, and the wings and dumplings tasted foul. The nuggets and chips were average. We ate only about half the food because the rest was inedible. The hotel also looked very run down and nothing like the photos. We were relieved we hadn’t booked a room there. We can’t recommend eating at Tanoa.
