Orator Hotel

The lunch service put us off coming back: on each of the first couple of days we waited nearly two hours for our food. Later we learned staff had been preparing a private buffet for the owner and their friends while paying guests waited. That felt unfair and rude. Breakfast was nice, but for the first three days nobody told us eggs could be cooked to order, and there was no sign. We only found out from another guest, then staff said there should have been a sign. Our family stayed in Villa 5, which sleeps four. It was comfortable, and the peaceful atmosphere was nice. The staff were lovely, especially Joseph. The bathroom needs work: the shower swung between extremely hot and freezing, with very poor pressure. The property also needs major refurbishing and maintenance. Pool tiles were missing or loose and seemed hazardous, and my brother had to move rooms because of a leaking ceiling. There are what feels like a thousand pot plants everywhere, which makes the place look cluttered and overwhelming. It was a hit-and-miss stay, and we wouldn't return or recommend it to family and friends. Sorry Orator, you need to do better!

The air con was the one good thing. The rooms are old and let critters in, and the showers were either hot or cold. Wi-Fi only worked at reception, not in the rooms. When something needed repair, service was nonexistent. I only saw staff when they came together to sing goodbye. They mean well, but the place is lacking in many ways and needs upgrading. I don't recommend it.

The bed was extremely comfortable, and having the pool right outside our villa was a highlight. It was a great hotel for us overall, though it's starting to feel a little dated and could use a refresh. It was truly amazing when it first opened, and we'd love to see it updated and restored to its full potential.

It was so quiet, and everyone was lovely, especially Iva and Melita. The receptionists were lovely too. They were going through renovations but still kept the customer service up. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would definitely come back soon xx
