Hotel Brezovica

The views and surrounding nature are amazing, but there were no calming touches like soft music or a pleasant aroma to help you enjoy them. In our room, several things were broken, including the lamps. The jacuzzi room was uncomfortable too, with no window to open and water starting to drip down from the balcony above because of the heat. Breakfast was good, though not what I’d expect from a five-star hotel, and the reception desk could use some professional coaching. This hotel wasn’t the best experience for me.

The food was the one thing that really worked for us. The restaurant servers were kind, and most of the food was good, though the burger wasn’t. It was hard to enjoy any of it with people smoking in the restaurant. Smoking was also everywhere in the spa and around the nice, warm pools. We’d booked the largest suite for our family, including our baby, over Easter weekend, expecting a smoke-free stay. Instead, smoke kept pouring into the room all night. Even with the windows open and the heating off, it stayed smoky, as though people were smoking right in our room. We struggled to sleep and breathe, and all of us had terrible headaches. This is not a smoke-free hotel, and there are no smoke-free rooms. Reception wasn’t helpful. When we asked what activities we could do near the hotel, the person at the desk basically said they couldn’t recommend anything. We were so disappointed.

The restaurant service was another letdown. The waiters were inattentive and ineffective, and you had to keep your hand raised for ages hoping someone would notice. Orders took forever, with little basic customer care. Then, during New Year’s Eve in the middle of winter, the power went out for more than 30 minutes. Guests were left in darkness and cold, and the hotel had no working generator. Management gave no explanation or apology and didn’t respond properly. Staff just wandered around looking confused while everyone waited and froze. A celebration turned into a stressful disappointment. The hotel failed at basic comfort, safety, and service, and I strongly do NOT recommend it.

We’ve been coming here for 4 years and love the place. The food is delicious, and the waiters are amazing. The reception boys are great too, though I can’t say the same about the girls. My only advice is to train the staff. The cleaning ladies are so polite and always smiling, but could be more professional.
