Hotel Camp Karagaq

We felt welcome right away, with a big smile and plenty of useful tips for our road trip. The rooms were clean and a good size, and the centre is only about a ten-minute walk away. The restaurant at the hotel was also very good.

The park nearby and the affordable price were positives, but this felt like a very basic place rather than a proper three-star hotel. I was there as a tour leader with a group, and the stay was disappointing. Check-in was awkward at the tiny reception, and there’s no lift or staff to help carry luggage, which was inconvenient for my guests. Breakfast was extremely basic and too little for our group. We even had to pay extra for more coffee. The hotel also didn’t feel fresh.

The reception staff were friendly, helpful, and spoke good English. They lent us an electric kettle and an extra duvet cover when we asked, and there was a little fridge in the room. The faucet was noisy, though, and there was no shower curtain. We didn’t get the mountain view or evening entertainment promised on booking.com. The breakfast menu wasn’t clear about things like whether bread was included, and part of the road into the city centre was dark.

The manager was friendly and helped with requests, including bringing us a kettle for hot water. Our room was clean, comfortable, and had enough ventilation. Breakfast costs extra at the restaurant, but we could bring our own pastries and order coffee there. A good option if you’re fine with walking around ten minutes to Peja town.
