Greenfields Guest House

The staff are what make Greenfields feel so special. Ntombi, Ignacious, Enock, and Wilma are thoughtful, caring, and always go the extra mile. From arrival to departure, they make you feel valued. I've booked here twice, and both stays exceeded my expectations. The food is consistently delicious, the atmosphere is welcoming, and the service is outstanding. Greenfields is a memorable place, and I highly recommend it for the food, service, and overall experience.

The breakfast packs were a letdown. We asked for toasted chicken mayo sandwiches from the menu and were told only mince sandwiches could be made. The packs we eventually got had two loose slices of toast in a greaseproof bag, plus fruit and juice tossed into a large paper bag. We needed to leave before 6am, but after dinner we waited a long time without an update. When I asked in the kitchen, the staff seemed annoyed and said the packs would only be made in the morning. They agreed after I explained again that we were leaving early. We had booked the advertised luxury family room, with a double and single bed, after asking for the best available unit. It felt more like an enclosed patio than a luxury suite. The interior was dated, and little details such as the mirror partly hidden behind the TV made the planning seem poor. There was no air conditioning, just a very noisy floor fan that started falling apart when switched on. Old lantern-style lights were mounted inside, and the curtains and window netting were worn. The room and bathroom didn't seem properly cleaned, and the bathroom window netting needs replacing. Dinner at the on-site restaurant was convenient but average. The walkway between buildings was poorly lit, and we tripped over a concrete slab sticking into the path. Traffic noise continued through the night. For the price, the quality wasn't good value. The owners and management clearly don't check the rooms regularly and seem to leave everything to the staff. More attention to upkeep, cleanliness, service, and guest safety would make a real difference.

Breakfast was good, probably the one part that felt 4-star. The staff were good too, though they were very noisy near our room. The property has real potential, but I left disappointed and expected more. The rooms and grounds need serious maintenance and updating, and felt more like 2-3 stars. There's no air conditioning or mini fridge in the rooms. Parking is very narrow, with just one entrance and exit, and our room's security gate looked at least 15 years old, with a lock more suited to a 1-2 star place. Not sure about that 4-star rating.

I needed to find somewhere quickly for 10 nights, so I booked at Greenfields. From Enoch at reception to the person who carried my luggage, the whole stay felt five-star. The breakfast was lovely and the coffee was awesome. Thanks, Team Greenfields, for the hospitality. I'd stay again any time.
