The biggest problem was how the owner handled our complaints. He initially replied and asked us to send photos, but since 30 December 2025 he has gone quiet and stopped taking calls. We still haven’t received a proper response about the refund we requested after what we saw, which we believe was a clear breach of the stay terms. We had booked four separate rooms for our family, from 26 to 29 December 2025. On arrival, every room was dirty, the carpets were filthy, and the place looked nothing like the website and booking.com photos. We chose to stay anyway because of the cancellation policy and didn’t want to lose about R20 000. When we returned to the rooms that evening, things were worse. Rainwater was dripping by the doorway of room 3, which felt like a safety hazard. The pillows, pillowcases and linen in all four rooms were dirty, and the pillows appeared to have mold on them, as shown in the pictures. Room 3’s shower was filthy too, with brown-stained tiles and a dirty handle and shower head. The refrigerator was rusty. It’s clear to us that the property has had little or no maintenance, and the owner seems rarely to be around. Calls, messages and emails were our only way to reach him, and he wouldn’t answer when we complained. Unprofessional, filthy and deceptive. Don’t book here. We were met with filth and deception.

I’m glad management is responding now, but the reply doesn’t match what happened. I have an email from management on record saying we would get a refund. We’ve heard a lot about the establishment and its conduct, so this response doesn’t surprise me. We booked for 16-18 January and found the room dirty, with visibly unclean linen. They offered us a different room, but its standard was still very poor. We weren’t prepared to stay or sleep in those unhygienic conditions, and the premises seemed badly maintained. We’re extremely disappointed that the manager and owner refused to refund our money and ignored our emails and calls. Based on our experience, I’d strongly advise people not to book at Santorini Guest house. It’s a scam.

Staff were friendly and professional, and our room was clean. The air-con made it comfortable, too. The ocean views are breathtaking, with the smell and sound of the sea all around. It’s near the amenities, including Thirsty Wale, Garage and the mall. I’d recommend it for a quick getaway with ocean views. A couple of additions would be nice: umbrellas and chairs on the lawn, plus a small cash bar or sandwich bar for guests around the pool.

Our doggy was welcome too, which we loved. Lovington (host) is such a nice person, and we got a really warm welcome. The place is beautiful and the staff are very friendly.

The accommodation was very clean and neat, and the atmosphere was beautiful and relaxing. The staff are so friendly and went beyond what was expected to meet all our needs.
