Tempel Wines

From the moment we arrived, we were treated like trespassers and shouted at about where to park, even though equipment needed to be unloaded for the event. Tatiana became rude and aggravated. At showtime, different people involved kept changing the instructions. The band was told to set up somewhere without an accessible power point or screen. Nobody offered us food or drinks, then she had her staff eat in front of the band members. There was no cash bar. After that fiasco, one band member’s child was told to go away, even though she wasn’t near the guests, dinner guest bar, or dining area. It felt like this woman was looking for something to be rude about. Once dinner was over, we were shouted at to leave. As a board member of the A.T.K.V tourorism, I’ve put these reasons in context with hosting regulations and applied for the venue to be removed. GVR entertainment also won’t support future wine festivals here, including through third party involvement with the venue. As a radio presenter, I’ll be discussing venues like this soon. I’m also looking into the highly rated reviews here, which seem to have been posted by friends and family. A minority group was found not to be.

The wines were exceptional, and there’s an honesty bar that my husband enjoyed a lot, perhaps a bit too much! We loved meeting the five dogs, mostly Ridgebacks, such beautiful, majestic animals. Breakfast was a highlight too, with fresh local produce and delicious fresh squeezed orange juice. We also really enjoyed talking with the owner, Tom, an inspiring person who made the stay special. The views were breathtaking and the staff were wonderful. We thought getting taxis might be tricky because of the location, but Uber worked fine, with only one long wait. Our stay at Tempel Wines felt magical, and our only regret is not staying longer. We can’t recommend this beautiful place enough.

We loved every minute on this green, beautiful estate. Tempel Wines has lovely, clean rooms with super comfortable beds, and I especially liked the luxurious Charlotte Rhys bathroom products. The breakfast was exceptional, the service was great, and the welcoming hosts gave helpful restaurant and sightseeing tips. Thank you, Tom & Tatyana, for a wonderful stay!

We saw some bigger, ultra luxury wine resorts, but coming back to Tempel Wines was always a joy. Tom and Tanja were fantastic hosts, happy to share tips on the area and restaurants, and lovely company for a chat. Their wines were excellent and served with great hospitality. The pool was a perfect place to enjoy a glass while taking in the stunning surroundings. The estate is beautiful, with a relaxed, stylish, inviting African atmosphere, and the welcome felt truly warm and genuine. We had an amazing stay. Dear Tom and Tanja, when we return to Africa, we’ll definitely come back!
