The pool area is fantastic, with a great lapa, fridge, gas stove and braai stand, though the pool needs more cleaning and maintenance as the water was starting to turn green. There were also a lot of bothersome flies, coming in through the door despite one window having a mosquito net. Our room was thoroughly cleaned, but it wasn’t ready when we arrived just after the 14h00 check-in time. We were taken to the pool while we waited. There was no cutlery or tea and coffee in the room, and we had to keep asking staff for them. Breakfast was delicious and the chef did an amazing job, though Booking.com listed it at R90 per person and staff said it was R120. It’s a quiet location, and Monte Christo is generally well kept and run, with some room for improvement. A great spot for a quick local getaway.

The receptionist was so professional and kind, and the chef was thoughtful and helpful. The breakfast packs were yummy too, handy when you need to head out early. The rooms were beautiful, clean and comfortable. Fantastic service, and a stunning place to stay.

Every detail, from check-in to check-out, went smoothly. The room was spotless and beautifully designed, with everything I needed for a relaxing stay. The staff made me feel welcome and comfortable from the moment I arrived. They were friendly, professional and attentive without hovering. I can’t recommend this hotel enough. Amazing hospitality and comfort.

I loved my two night stay. The rooms were clean, breakfast was delicious and well prepared, and the staff were friendly and helpful. It was also great value for money, and I strongly recommend the hotel. There are some things to improve, though. The place is all stairs, with no facilities for disabled guests. There were no baby changing facilities at the toilets, especially near the pool, so I had to go back up to my room to change my baby. The old hotel had no bathroom bins either. I’m not sure if that was a mistake.

The food here is delicious, and the staff are professional, friendly and give excellent customer service. It’s a lovely guest house and conference venue in the Spitskop/Vredenhof small holdings. The only slight downside is how remote it is, with a gravel road for the last mile.
