The grounds made it easy to unwind, with mature trees, a pool, quiet places to sit, birds and tree frogs all around. There’s a well-stocked bar that works on an honor system, and a cellar available for special events. I was there during a wedding and could easily imagine choosing Kangelani for an international wedding of my own. I spent 10 days at this lovely lodge, and it was such a great find. Jenny, the owner, makes you feel like a guest rather than a stranger, and Cindi, the manager, was always doing more to make us comfortable. Everyone on staff was kind and helpful, even making sure there was fresh milk in the fridge each day for tea or coffee. The rooms were fantastic, with very comfortable beds and everything well appointed. I’d happily stay here for a few evenings.

We left after finding bed bugs crawling in the duvets, just moments after our toddler had been sitting on the bed. We were staying one night in a family unit, and told the staff we were checking out. Before that, the room had seemed clean on arrival, but after settling in we noticed spiders and webs in the corners, lizard droppings on the pillows, and water in the kettle with things floating in it. It’s a beautiful-looking place, but housekeeping needs serious attention. We were very disappointed.

Breakfast was very good, and they were accommodating when we made requests. The room was good, though it didn’t feel very private, and the bed wasn’t as comfortable as I’d hoped. The stay surprised me.

We had the whole place for our wedding weekend, so everyone could stay together in one location for the ceremony, reception, and the rest of the weekend. Guests loved their spacious, luxurious rooms and kept commenting on how beautiful the venue was. Everything was decorated beautifully, and the staff were friendly, helpful, and accommodating at every step. Kangalani lodge worked perfectly for our wedding. I’d recommend it for a wedding or a relaxing weekend away.
