One thing to bear in mind is that the gravel road to the resort isn’t very friendly for cars without an SUV. Still, the setting was lovely, the meals were delicious, and the staff’s welcome and attention made our time memorable. A great spot if you’re looking to get away from the rat race.

The food is really good, and I’d book one of the luxury rooms if you can. I’ve got a soft spot for this lovely lodge, just 90 minutes from Joburg, with impressive game on the farm, including lots of genetically pure Sable that you don’t usually see. The pricing feels silly to me, though. Why charge extra for game drives when that’s what everyone comes to do? They should be upfront about it.

The sunset game drive was beautiful, fun, and informative, and you can tell a lot of planning goes into everything. The staff were so friendly and went out of their way to make our anniversary special. We had a wonderful stay, loved the food, and will definitely come back. Thanks for such a lovely getaway!

Cosmos made the game drives a real highlight. He knew his subject, kept us engaged with his wildlife commentary, and had a great personality. The meals from the chefs were divine and added a lot to the weekend. We also enjoyed the family-like atmosphere with the other friendly guests. The lodge staff were attentive throughout, and Robin gave us great service while booking. From the warm welcome onward, my family and I had a spectacular stay at Thaba Khaya. We’re already looking forward to visiting again.

We were warmly welcomed and the staff paid close attention to us throughout. The meals and game drive were a real pleasure, and we had a good, restful break in the bush.
