The yard was neglected, with long grass, a messy entrance and bins still full from the previous guest. Inside, the floors are old and sink in places, and the house is very noisy. The advertisement photos are misleading. I was really unhappy.

Maple Cottage gave us the quiet we needed after moving into our new home and starting renovations in December 2024. The cottage felt warm and welcoming, and it was neat. We could bring our kittens, and I felt sure they'd be safe, which gave me extra peace of mind. We loved the mountain views, the sunsets and sunrises, and the calm, peaceful setting. It had everything we were looking for and more.

Jason and the kids were wonderful hosts, and I loved spending time looking out at the view from the balcony. The only things that fell short were the small bathroom and the fact that it only has a shower, which wasn't ideal with little children. Otherwise, this would have been a five-star stay.

Being near the city and places like Stellenbosch made it easy to get around and see different spots. The mountain view was stunning, and the place was stylish. I also found the kitchen so well equipped that cooking for myself felt just like being at home.

The stairs up to the cottage are steep and awkward, which didn't feel safe. There was no servicing during our three-night stay. Noise was another problem: the cottage sits above the main house's double garage, and the owner's automated garage doors make a loud rumbling sound whenever they open or close. The motorized gate does the same.
