Bantry Retreat Adults Only

The house itself is lovely, and the bedrooms are great. The Google photos are accurate about the property, but the Retreat's view is misleading. Large buildings and construction workers look straight toward the pool and bedroom doors, which made it uncomfortable to sit outside or leave the doors open. Roy came by several times a day to check on us, and I found that intrusive. John, the helper, was constantly reporting what we were doing to Roy and joining our conversations as if he were part of our group. Having a stranger so involved made us uncomfortable. One night, Roy called and shouted at my wife, rudely saying the neighbours were complaining about noise. We were only having dinner, without music or noise. It was an interesting experience, but I certainly wouldn't repeat it.

We spent a month in the self-catering unit, and it was an absolute pleasure. The apartment was serviced every day, the staff were excellent, and the whole stay was wonderful. Bantry Retreat is a gem and felt like home. Owner Dr Roy Aronson was a wonderful host, always willing to go above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable.

Service here is incredible, and the location is perfect for Cape Town. If you need somewhere to stay in the city, I'd definitely recommend it.
