Idalette made us feel welcome straight away and stayed in touch before and during our visit to make sure everything was sorted. The whole property was a great example of how a place should be run. This oasis in Camps Bay comes highly recommended, and we’ll definitely be back.

The pool was a lovely place to spend the evening, especially with the sunset, and friends came over to enjoy it with me. Down at the foot of the mountain, it’s peaceful, without city noise, so it felt like a real retreat. In the mornings I’d have coffee provided by the house by the pool, looking out at the ocean, then walk about 30 minutes down to the beach. The Bakoven/Camps bay area is beautiful and safe. My room felt more like a small flat. It had a large terrace with a table and two chairs, a kitchenette with the essential utensils, a big bed for two, a large wardrobe, and a bathroom with a bathtub. It was tidy and clean when I arrived and every other day after that. Thanks to the wonderful staff for being friendly, helpful, and making sure everyone felt comfortable throughout the building. Bayview penthouses also have a generator, which was a real advantage during Cape Town’s load sheddings. Friends staying in other flats at similar prices had power cuts, while I had lights, WiFi, and hot water. The owners had thought of everything. They’re incredibly lovely and friendly, and I felt at home. Thanks again for everything.

I didn’t stay there myself, but I hosted a guest who came to Cape Town and stayed at the property. Her room had beautiful views, lots of space, and all the amenities, and made it feel like a lovely vacation. She had an earlier flight, so my guest and I asked whether she could check in early. They accommodated her and had the room ready by 1.30pm, just in time for her arrival. Service was good overall, and the woman who helped us at reception was very lovely and helpful. There’s a nice shared area with tea, coffee, and a comfortable place to relax.

Getting to hike straight from the house was such a bonus. The Pipe Track starts right next door and follows the mountain slopes for great views; further along, it joins the Kasteelspoort hiking trail, which goes up to the top, where you can walk across to the main Table Mountain area. It’s a lot of steps, around 1 to 2.5 hours depending on fitness, but the views are well worth it. Go early and the sun stays blocked, which is lovely. We only had one night and wished we’d booked more. The hospitality was exceptional from the moment we arrived, with a friendly welcome and even a glass of wine. The room photos don’t do it justice. Our views faced the sunset, and the hot tub was perfectly placed for it. The pool was great too, especially when the afternoon sun warmed the air, and it also has lovely views. After swimming, we couldn’t bring ourselves to leave the room. We ordered delicious pizza through Uber eats and watched the beautiful sunset with a bottle of local red. We’d looked at lots of other places and are so glad we chose this one. I honestly can’t think of a fault.
