Bikini Beach Manor

We could see Table Mountain, Lions Head, False Bay, Strand, Somerset West, and the Gordons Bay harbour from the windows and balcony. The sunsets over the Atlantic were beautiful, and we watched fishing and sail boats come and go from the harbour. There are lovely beaches, great restaurants, and plenty more to do nearby. We felt safe, rested well, and enjoyed every day at Bikini Beach Manor, tucked below the Gordon's Bay mountains. The views really are spectacular, and the pool and BBQ areas are great. But we stayed five nights as a family of 15, renting the three biggest apartments, and the place needs serious care. For accommodation advertised as luxury guest houses, the condition fell short. We had concerns about safety, especially with an elderly woman and children in our group. There’s a small metal fence along the roadside, but no gate on the pool side to stop people entering the property. Gordon's Bay isn’t necessarily known as dangerous, but some guests may feel uneasy without electric fencing or even burglar bars. There were no room safes for valuables either. Entrance and sliding doors, along with some windows, were defective. The apartments had large kitchens, but most of the equipment was in bad shape. Furniture and general cleanliness were lacking throughout. Stairs around the property seemed questionably built, furniture inside was wobbly, and we found loose electrical wires, broken glass sinks, and plugs and lamps held together with tape. It felt as though the owner had tried to fit as many people as possible onto the plot. That seemed to lead to odd, rushed, and sometimes unsafe design choices, and the apartments felt impersonal rather than luxurious.

The views are fantastic, and the place is so peaceful. This was my second stay, and the cleaning was outstanding. Booking was easy, and the owner welcomed us and made us feel at home right away. We can’t fault Niall and his team. Sally and Jake will definitely be back.

A little slice of heaven. We had a phenomenal penthouse, clean and set up with everything we needed for a relaxing family break. The pool and the views from our balcony were breathtaking. We loved our stay and will be back. This could become our annual family reset.
