Cartwrights Corner by ITC Hospitality Hotel

The location is great, and the hotel has good WiFi, very comfortable beds, excellent bathrooms, and well-equipped kitchens. My main issue was the cleaning arrangement. Staff didn’t have an extra key, and since I was working every day, they never had a chance to service my room. There was no sponge for washing dishes, and only one black bag. The security staff were quite rude and told me to move my car between different spots, contrary to what management had said. Parking costs R200 a day and isn’t included in the hotel price.

I absolutely do not recommend staying at this place. I found Cartwrights through booking.com. Unlike other hosts I’ve dealt with, this host didn’t contact me on WhatsApp. When I arrived, I called, but got no reply. Check-in was delayed because security didn’t know who I was or about my booking. I was also surprised to learn breakfast wasn’t on the property. The host gave me coupons for Taj cape town, at least a five-minute walk away. Housekeeping was another issue: I was told there was none on weekends, then after discussing it, the host agreed to send someone on Saturday but not Sunday. Yesterday I was out from 10 in the morning. When I returned, the door wasn’t locked with the key the way I’d left it. I messaged the host and politely asked them to tell the housekeeper to lock it when leaving. The host insisted it had been locked, suggested we might be confused or lying, and told us to be grateful, as though we were staying in the apartment for free.

The views were lovely, and the beds were clean and comfortable, though the apartment felt a bit worn. The biggest problem was people smoking weed on the patio outside the lounge while guests were eating. Nothing was done to discourage it.

I spent two lovely weeks here. My room was beautifully decorated, and there’s secure parking inside, as booked. It’s near lots of restaurants and easy to reach the main roads.
