Dolliwarie Guest House

This wouldn’t be my choice of place to stay in Cape Town. It’s far from everything, the rooms weren’t clean, and the guesthouse had almost no facilities. Most of the time there was nobody around to help. It worked for me because I was visiting a friend nearby and had work in the area, but otherwise I wouldn’t stay here.

I used to stay here regularly, but service has slipped over the last two months. Breakfast wasn’t ready on time, coffee, tea and sweeteners weren’t replenished, and several things were broken in some rooms. I’ll look for somewhere else now.

For the price, this place is just right. It’s fairly new, the rooms are comfortable, and it was quiet during my stay. They have the basic catering you need, and meals are available by order, though I left too early for breakfast. The young manager is friendly, pleasant and helpful. I’d stay here again.

There’s good parking in a nice, quiet area, but the stay needs work. There was no cleaning service and nobody at reception. The toilet didn’t flush properly, and the bed was extremely squeaky. It needs a bit of a revamp to meet its claimed four-star standard. I’d give it two stars.
