The lounge was a letdown for food and drinks, but the rest of our stay was wonderful, largely thanks to the staff. Everyone was so friendly and accommodating, and they gave us a 4 PM late checkout when they heard we had an evening flight. That made our last day much more relaxed. We didn’t get the view we’d hoped for in our first room. When we asked at the front desk, the staff personally showed us several other rooms until we found one that suited us. The room was clean and comfortable, with good amenities. The hotel’s location was convenient, and the breakfast buffet had a great range of high quality choices for everyone.

We felt safe here, and it’s easy to get to the Lion's head trail from the hotel. For our short NYE stay, the location worked well for walking around the New Year’s festivities, with plenty of good restaurants nearby. Staff were attentive, the room was clean and basic, and breakfast offered lots of choice. The spa and pool felt cramped and a bit small. We’d recommend it for a brief stay if you’re not too demanding.

Hanno and Janice at the front desk, along with Felix, Mark, and Phurema from F&B, deserve a special mention. Everyone we met was friendly and helpful from arrival through checkout, and their empathy made a frustrating stay easier. The pizza at the cafe was good, and the location gives you a taste of the local scene. Our first room wasn’t up to Regency standards, and it seems the hotel may be going through a slow refresh. The second room had serious A/C trouble that still hadn’t been fixed when we checked out after three nights. They offered to move us and brought a fan around 4:30pm on the last evening, but we’d been raising the A/C issue since 5pm on day one, so by then we took the fan. As a Hyatt regular, this wasn’t the kind of Hyatt Regency stay I’m used to, though it also wasn’t terrible. Ownership could invest in the property and bring it up to speed. Would I stay again if I came back to Cape Town? Probably, perhaps because this is the only reasonably priced Hyatt branded place around.

Our room was wonderful, with a beautiful view of Table Mountain and Lion Rock, and breakfast came with a huge spread of choices that made us look forward to each morning. But the people here are what made the stay feel once in a lifetime. From the moment we arrived, the hospitality was incredible, unlike any hotel experience we’ve had. Nadine, Sakhe, Felix, Janice, Zaid, and so many others were genuinely warm, helpful, and generous. We’re still talking about our time at Hyatt Regency Cape Town two weeks after getting home. It was the highlight of our visit to Cape Town.

Loakes and Nadine at the front desk were engaging and so helpful. Zaid, our friendly and knowledgeable room attendant, also gave us invaluable tips on places to eat and local tours. We’d certainly recommend this hotel for a city break. After staying at a Hyatt in Jo'Burg, we were looking forward to six days in Cape Town. Our two rooms were clean, lovely, and spacious, with good views of table mountain. Breakfast each day was fresh, plentiful, and delicious. We had one evening meal at the hotel and it was okay, though there was plenty of food choice nearby. The weather meant we didn’t use the outdoor pool or other amenities.
