Breakfast was nice, with plenty to choose from and eggs cooked fresh. Canal Walk being nearby was handy. But I'd describe the stay more like renting a random room in someone's house than staying at a proper hotel. Our "deluxe room" was on the ground floor, looking onto the parking lot rather than the canal or gardens promised in the website description. I didn't feel it was safe to open the windows, as I'm familiar with crime inside the Island Club, which mostly affects ground floor units. The room and corridor were both poorly lit, especially the bathroom, the worst lit one I've experienced. The sound insulation was awful, so we constantly heard doors slamming and other guests talking or shouting. The room needed maintenance: some surfaces were unpainted or damaged, the bathroom sliding door was broken, and the shower leaked. It was far from reception, and problems didn't seem to be well monitored. Guests often went out through the fire door and set off the alarm; other guests left food in the corridors, which may have contributed to the cockroach in our room. The hotel rooms seem scattered around the Island Club development. Ours was on the opposite side of the complex, away from the gym and other amenities, and we had to walk outside the Island Club complex to get to reception and breakfast. Other Deluxe rooms may be better, but I'm not taking that chance again.

Breakfast had a good range, including eggs, sausages, fruit, yoghurts, different cheeses, nuts, olives and baked goods. Our Deluxe room was pleasant, and they brought a hair dryer when I asked. It was nice being able to walk over to CW for food or shopping. I was hoping for a night swim, but we couldn't use the warm pool because we hadn't realized swimming caps were required. That's the only thing between this and a 5 from me 💔. I'd definitely visit again 💖

The view was a highlight, with Table Mountain at a great angle and distance thanks to the location near Milnerton. The pool is centrally placed, the surrounding complex is manicured for walks, and the apartment had direct but controlled access to Canal Walk. Capri 604 was clean, but its furniture, bathroom fittings, walls and ceilings all look neglected and worn. A few pieces of cutlery, crockery and cookware were missing. It needs more attention to meet the expected standard. Construction across the road brought dust and noise, which took away from the view. The lift and stairwell shaft felt very industrial, a poor design choice. Check-in was confusing too: we only learned from security at the gate that the access card and key had to be collected offsite. I'm not sure I'd call it a hotel, it felt more like AirBnB accommodation. I probably won't return unless I need to be in the area.

The room I'm in, no3, has a balcony with a nice view, plus a small kitchenette. The rooms are spacious and well equipped, even though there aren't many of them. It's a secure, access-controlled estate, right opposite the mall, so shopping and entertainment are a short walk away. I think it's good value for money. I come to Cape Town often, but this is my first stay here. I'm here on business this time, though I'd consider it for a leisure trip as well.

The surroundings are lovely and it's close to the mall. Some rooms don't have aircon, and the bathroom finishes look dated. Breakfast vouchers aren't always available, after-hours help is slow, and getting service in the rooms can be difficult.
