Sea Mount

What angered you was that a Black couple were having a disagreement, and your response was to shout at us like we were children. You could have spoken to us respectfully. Having Black and coloured friends doesn’t clear you of racism, and 31 years of democracy doesn’t mean racism is gone. My partner and I had a brief argument. The owner listened in by leaning over the balcony, then shouted that we were making noise. He called the police and asked them to take us away, as though we were criminals. I’d paid for three nights, and he wanted us to sleep in jail over a little noise, treating us like animals. I’m sure the experience would have been blissful if I’d been white. I suppose you’re used to lying. If I’d really broken anything, the police would have taken us away, but they came in and found nothing that justified locking us up as you’d instructed. I strongly suggest you close up and only host your friends.

The glass-panelled room had AMAZING sunset views. We loved relaxing in bed in the evening and looking out. It also had a simple setup for meals, including a microwave oven and cutlery, plus a Nespresso machine for morning coffee. The day before our stay, Clinton, the manager, sent a Whatsapp with useful information about the apartment and our visit. That kind of communication was reassuring in a foreign place, especially on our first trip to Cape Town. There were a few steps to reach the room, but Clinton and his team were always ready to help with our bags. We wish we’d booked a longer stay at Sea Mount.

Richard made us feel welcome from the start. We came from Canada feeling a bit clueless, and he personally showed us around, explained the area and gave us lots of recommendations, with cold beers in hand. The room has a stunning view of the shore, and everything you need is only a short walk away. Definitely a great stay!

Cape Town’s weather wasn’t great, but the stunning views of Camps bay Beach and everything Sea Mount offered made for an amazing weekend. Thank you!
