Signal Hill Lodge

There isn't any parking, and the reception has an unpleasant carpet smell. The staff came across as cold. The room wasn't too bad, but it was small, and the bathroom and shower were very cramped. It definitely didn't look like the pictures.

The place itself looked beautiful, but our experience was awful. We were left outside in the cold and wind after getting out of our Uber around 9pm. I rang the bell more than ten times, and it took about five minutes for the receptionist to come out. When my girlfriend and I challenged him about it, he didn't apologize. The shower in our room had no warm water. Then my girlfriend was accused of taking a blower, with no proof offered. They kept me there because I wouldn't pay for something we hadn't taken, and eventually forced us to pay R500 for a blower that looked well used. The manager on duty was rude and, honestly, seemed racist. We asked them to call the police, but they never did. I wouldn't recommend staying here. The service was horrible.

Naomi was especially welcoming, and I liked the staff's hospitality and the lodge's location. The rooms were spacious, though my bed sagged and needs replacing, as does the carpet. Even with GPS, finding the lodge was a struggle.

The rooms are tiny and packed close enough that you can hear people talking in the next one. There's no fridge in the room, so we had to ask Naomi to store our friend's birthday cupcakes. We left them behind when we checked out Saturday morning, and couldn't get anyone to answer the phone. Long story short, someone on staff, together with Naomi, apparently ate them. We were there for a friend's birthday weekend on 19 Sept 2025. I wouldn't visit again. The location also felt unsafe. Worst place to visit.
