The Grey Hotel

The neighborhood has a lovely feel, with several restaurants and a supermarket that was very reasonably priced. I felt the immediate area was safe, and walking down to the waterfront in daytime seemed low-risk. It took about 18 minutes on foot to get there. For the price, I was happy with the nicely furnished room, modern bathroom, and huge terrace. The staff were welcoming and friendly, handled bookings efficiently, and gave me useful tips for sightseeing. I’d definitely stay here again if I return to Cape Town.

I was in town for the Marathon, traveling on my own, and booked the economy room. It was clean and tidy, with a huge bed that could easily fit three people. The bathroom and shower room were spacious too, and that shower beat the one I have at home. The staff were incredibly polite and helpful, and seemed full of warmth and happiness. The V&A waterfront was a handy 15-minute walk away. I’ll definitely come back when I’m in Capetown again.

We picked this place for part of our honeymoon and were glad we did. The rooms are on the small side, but had everything we needed, and the staff were happy to answer all our many questions and help out. The location made getting around easy, with lots of tasty restaurants right outside. We had a great stay and would return.

Room 3 was roomy enough, nicely decorated, and had air conditioning and a little fridge. It also came with a lovely terrace and a beautiful view of Table mountain. A coffee or tea maker in the room costs extra. My room sat just below the rooftop terrace, which stays open until 10pm, and it could get noisy before then, though it didn’t bother me. I’d change the artwork on the wall. The Grey is in the Waterkant area, which feels like a small village in the city. There are plenty of cafes and restaurants, and security guards around the neighborhood made walking about feel safe. The boutique hotel itself is very nice. The staff were wonderful. Lungi and Marieke went out of their way to help me book tours and suggest restaurants. The breakfast was good, and the woman serving it, whose name I don’t know, remembered my coffee order so well that my espresso was already being made before I sat down. 😊 I’d happily return and recommend the hotel.
