The cooked English breakfast was fresh in the morning, and the sunny-side-up eggs were great. The bed was comfortable, there was warm water, towels were clean, and the location suited me. Parking was secure behind a locked gate. Those were the good points. Some parts were only average. The building and grounds need maintenance, as do the rooms. Damp was visible on the bathroom wall and ceilings. The safety latches and door locks didn't work, so only the security gate could be locked. The shade net over the parking was worn and sagging. In my experience of many guesthouses while traveling around Africa, this one was average. The coffee in the room was Ricoffy sachets, and there was no milk, just creamer sachets. For what we paid, it wasn't good value. This was my second visit to the same guesthouse in 2025, and I saw no improvements between the two stays.

I left feeling shaken, anxious, and completely stressed. I’d booked this stay hoping for somewhere quiet to rest and recover during an incredibly difficult time, but I couldn’t stay the night. After I’d paid in full, the host was cold and dismissive, then became confrontational and threatened to call the police over nothing serious. I felt like I didn’t matter at all. No one going through a hard time deserves that kind of treatment. I strongly advise looking elsewhere if you expect basic kindness and respect, and I still didn’t get my money back.

The guesthouse has changed its name to Rosenthal Guesthouse, and quite a bit has changed too. The accommodation is absolutely beautiful, and security has been upgraded. We were warmly received when we arrived, and the staff make you feel at home. They attend to every requirement and don't leave any issue unresolved. Love it!

It was kind of weird for my first time, and I still need to understand how they do things. The room was very clean, though, and parking is inside the yard behind remotely locked gates. Breakfast was dull... I

The place has such a warm, welcoming feel, a real example of South African hospitality. My room was clean and neat, the staff were really friendly, and breakfast was amazing.
