The family unit is roomy, the beds were extremely comfortable, and the rates were affordable. We also liked being within walking distance of Clarens village, with its small shops and places to eat. But the open layout meant little privacy between the adults’ area and the kids’ space. The windows weren’t fully shaded, the floors creaked, and there was no secured parking. We spent one night here as a family. Hospitality was fine, though nothing special.

The room was beautiful and spacious, with a microwave, cups, and glasses provided. I’d come back, but would ask for a different unit. The wooden floors are noisy, and there’s no aircon or heating, so winter could be very cold. Also, some windows have no curtains, which is a problem if you need complete darkness to sleep.

There was everything we needed in this spacious, characterful room, and the shower was amazing. We were sorry to stay for just one night. Thanks to our amazing host, and hopefully we’ll return someday.

The kitchen was large and well equipped, and the bed was clean and comfortable. It got a little chilly in the middle of the night, but they provided an extra blanket. We stayed two nights at 278. Evon was kind and very helpful, moving us to self-catering accommodation at short notice.

The rustic, charming place is right in the heart of Clarens, and breakfast was delicious. The staff were very willing to help. Clarens was really cold during our stay, but the wall heaters, gas heater, and electric blankets kept things toasty. Great value for money, and I really enjoyed my stay.
