Clarens Retreat

The hosts were helpful, and the place was tidy and clean. I especially liked the outdoor spot for a braai. Had a really enjoyable stay while visiting Clarens.

Dinner at Treat Restaurant in Clarens stayed with me. Chef Francois’ cooking was spectacular from the first course through the last, easily the best fine dining I've had in a small town. Gerrit and Francois were warm and professional, and their care showed in the hospitality. When my car acted up, they even pointed me to a local mechanic. The room was spacious, clean and peaceful, and nicely heated for a winter visit. Vincent was a star with my luggage and late check-in after my long drive from Gauteng. There was even a dedicated make-up cloth waiting in the bathroom, a small detail that felt thoughtful. Thanks for the outstanding service.

I've stayed twice, once in a two-bedroom cottage and once in a one-bedroom apartment, and Gerrit gave great service both times. He's welcoming and accommodating. Treat Restaurant being just a stone's throw away made breakfast and dinner easy. The rooms were neat, the bathrooms and bedding clean, and little extras like fresh milk in the fridge and rusks on the counter were a pleasure. I suggested mattress toppers for a softer night's sleep, and Gerrit took the feedback graciously. No complaints from me. For the layout: Units 1 to 6 are one-bedroom apartments, three ground-floor units with patios and three upstairs with balconies. Units 7 and 8 are slightly wider ground-floor one-bedroom apartments. Units 9 and 10 are cottages behind the property. Thank you!

Gerrit handled a booking mix-up with professionalism and trust. We had a great overnight stay in one of the self-catering double-bedroom cottages. The location makes it easy to explore the town and surrounding area, and the thoughtful touches included electric blankets, firewood, good bedding, a kitchen and appliances. A lovely choice for a special stay in Clarens.
