No. 20 On The Beach Guesthouse

The peaceful surroundings and convenient location made this a great stay, and the staff really went out of their way to make guests feel looked after. I felt at home as soon as I arrived, thanks to the warm, professional welcome. My room was immaculate, stylish, and very comfortable, with everything I needed. Breakfast at the restaurant was a real highlight. The food was fresh, full of flavour, and beautifully presented, and the service and atmosphere made every morning enjoyable. I highly recommend On the Promenade Guesthouse for comfort and great service. I’ll definitely return.

We had such a good stay at No. 20 On The beach Guesthouse. The onsite restaurant serves top quality food, and the location is perfect. The staff are super friendly and the rooms are lovely. We’ll be back soon!

The hosts were attentive, friendly, and there whenever I needed something, so I really felt at home. It was peaceful and safe, just right for relaxing. My room was spotless, comfortable, and thoughtfully prepared, with everything I needed. I had a wonderful stay, felt warmly welcomed as soon as I arrived, and would happily recommend the guesthouse for its cleanliness, comfort, and service. Thanks for a perfect stay. I’ll be back.

I booked two nights in Room 5, but left at 8am after the first one. I can’t recommend this place. The owner later said it had been clean before I arrived and that wind brings in dust and sea sand from the beach. I’ve lived on the coast, so I understand that, but it doesn’t explain mould on the television wires. I posted pictures so people can judge for themselves. Maybe the other rooms are better, as the pictures seem to suggest, but Room 5 shouldn’t be listed. A hotel room costs less per night and is much more restful. This place is coasting on its location. It felt like staying in your auntie’s backyard while paying for it. The place was shabby, dirty, dusty, and mouldy. The bedding from Sheet Street was fine, but the price wasn’t worth it, and the pillows were so thin they barely counted as pillows. There were cockroaches after sunset, and the one curtain was worn and had holes, when two were needed. Things don’t have to be new, but they do need to be clean. The staff didn’t seem to understand the guest experience. On bin day they spent 15 minutes wheeling the bin around between places at 7am, while people were sleeping, and talked loudly to each other. There were no towels when I checked in, so I had to ask. The cleaning lady came in and out without knocking or saying what she was doing, and didn’t replace towels or toilet paper. Dirty Tupperware was left around, and empty sugar packets stayed outside from check-in until I left. The owner’s three Great Danes were kept in the front room, barking at 6am and throughout the day whenever guests came and went. The owner also said the room was clean before my arrival, but that doesn’t change what I found.
