The water stayed cold from the morning until evening, and I had to bathe in it from check-in right through to checkout. It was July. When I asked the receptionist, she didn't respond. They take your money quickly, but showed no remorse. The room smelled bad, especially the bathroom, and the smell gave me sinus trouble. There were flies everywhere. Security on the other side of Bayside was rude, and the receptionist was even worse, arrogant and acting like helping guests was a favor. This was the worst place ever.

I paid online for a booking, then called several times to confirm when I would arrive. Nobody answered, the calls just went to voicemail. They also ignored my emails. When I got to Bayside Hotel Suites in Durban on 6 June 2025, they said every room was fully booked. I was stranded at night in Durban CBD, and never got my money back. This hotel is violating basic South African consumer protection laws. None of their numbers get answered, and the receptionist was terribly rude and showed no empathy.

The corridor noise is unbearable. I left my food in the room for five minutes, and the cleaning lady took a bite out of it.

We paid in full through bookings.com for a room, but arrived to hear there were no vacancies. If there really weren't any rooms, why did bookings.com accept our payment, and why hadn't the hotel updated its availability there? We also tried calling, but nobody picked up. When we challenged them about it, they said that number had changed a long time ago. Why hadn't they updated the number on the website? The receptionist on Saturday the 7th was rude and had an attitude. The hotel's failure to update the booking information or contact details left my wife and me stranded, and we had to sleep outside. The service was very poor. Never book online or go there.

The room was roomy and comfortable, and I enjoyed being there. But with no air conditioning and no DStv channels, I was sweating through the night.
