Royal Majestic Durban Hotel

Hilton Hotel Durban cancelled my booking without a proper explanation, even though I’d paid and had a confirmation months in advance. If you’re travelling from far, you could end up stranded without a place to stay. I found them completely unreliable, and it felt as though guests were being discriminated against. I wouldn’t recommend booking there. Suncoast Towers may be a safer choice. I’ve always had a pleasant stay at Suncoast, and the views are better too.

The location was a real plus for getting around. I could walk to Durban ICC in about two minutes, and the Golden Mile beachfront was a five-minute drive or a pleasant 15-minute walk. North Beach is around a kilometer away, handy for a run or stroll. The hotel’s in Durban’s CBD, near restaurants, shops, the Kwa Muhle Museum, and City Hall. Kingsmead Cricket Ground and Moses Mabhida Stadium are easy to reach, with the stadium about 2.7 kilometers away. We were in Room 1502, an EXECUTIVE SUITE. It had a spacious living room with a dining area and a huge bedroom, plus lovely views over KINGSMEAD cricket stadium, the football standium, the sprawling city, and even the ocean front. The air-con worked perfectly, the bed was comfortable, and the good-sized bathroom had a stand-in shower. The spa-quality CRABTREE and EVELYN toiletries were a nice touch. The hotel has three dining outlets, and breakfast was an elaborate spread worth getting up for. There’s also a very good gym with weights, workout stations, and cardio machines, as well as a swimming pool. Free Wi-Fi worked well throughout the property, and the speed was good. The big Smart TV had sports, news, music, movies, and entertainment in multiple languages. The hotel has an elegant, well-kept corporate feel that suits business trips but still feels welcoming for leisure. It seemed unusually empty while we were there, which made it a slightly odd vacation choice, but the warm staff made our stay pleasant. They took care of what we needed and made us feel at home. The rooms were clean and fresh, and the food and kitchen staff were excellent. Reception were courteous and helpful throughout, even giving me simple advice about Durban and showing me the shortest walk to the beach. They were always ready to assist this Golden Oldie. Worth staying at this place, whatever your reason.

The carpet quality 😭❤️🔥👑 and the breakfast was the best 🔥🔥🔥🔥. For 7 days we had peace and a beautiful view. The cleaners wouldn’t touch our things to take them, only to organize them. I had bottles of liq, some open, and none was tasted, I can assure that. I also had coins and notes, counted them, and they were left as if they hadn’t been counted. Hilton is a total 5 star.
